Red River has a Certified DOT/HAZMAT and HAZWOPER Consultant and Trainer on our Team. Tom Tucker has been involved with the O&G, Petrochemical and Chemical industries for over 25 years and as a Chemical Engineer he has lived and worked in many countries; manufacturing, transporting, selling, and testing both hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Responding to frequent requests, Red River offers a response to DOT’s (49 CFR 172.704) and OSHA’s (29 CFR 1910.120 (q)) training requirements.

The Department of Transportation (49 CFR 172.704) makes training mandatory for almost anyone who handles hazardous materials, regardless of the amount. This affects employees who select or fill hazardous materials packages, label containers, complete shipping papers, load or unload vehicles, transload hazardous materials, or operate vehicles used in the transport of hazardous materials. We can help in two possible ways: 1st – an in-house structured 8 hr. course that meets both your initial and recurrent training (every three years) requirements, 2nd – we have made available On-Line training that will satisfy the training requirements as well. Your choice. Send us a note and we will get you set up.

OSHA through 29 CFR 1910.120 (q) requires certain training for those companies that store and handle Hazardous Materials. This can be confusing (see the Blog on DOT and OSHA Jurisdictions) but is easy to sort out. Again, we can help you meet these training requirements, but your company must make certain decisions to determine what level of training you will need. We can help you with that as well. Just send us a note.

An example DOT HAZMAT Course Summary is outlined below. After successful completion of this course, each student will receive a 3rd party Certification of Completion for their personnel file. The Job Specific portion of the required training will be attained through Self-Certification by the Employer with the proper forms to be supplied by Red River. This includes HM drivers.
